Bienvenidos a Guatemala

Sunday, June 7th. The border crossing into Guatemala on the Pan Am was our quickest crossing. They were friendly and helpful, and we were soon heading south on one of the most beautiful drives we have been on.

Unfortunately, political ads are painted on anything solid.

The red ones are for the Lidar party, which seemed popular in the rural areas.

We soon started driving through mountain villages and marveled at the clothing and the fields going straight up the slopes.

The roads were generally in much better shape than in Mexico.

There are two common forms of transportation here that we don't see in the USA, the tuk-tuk and the overloaded pickup truck:

We didn't get a photo of the motorcycles with 4 passengers.

This billboard from the US Embassy is trying to discourage people from migrating north:

“Say no to migratory fraud, go and be sure you can work legally, don't be deceived, report it at the number listed, your call is anonymous"

We arrived at our destination, Antigua, well before dark.
